Are you overwhelmed with your life? Is your house a wreck? Is life not going according to plan? Do you feel so out of order that you don't quite know where to begin to put it back together? I think if we are being real, we have all been there at some point or another. Where do you begin? I don't think that there is a right or wrong answer to this question. Thats GOOD NEWS! Just beginning at all is a start. You have to start in order to change your situation. You have to take that first step. That's also the hardest part, so you know it can only get easier. Sometimes is gets messier before it gets better too. Don't be scared off from the rocky start. You have to put in a little effort to reap the reward. With organizing, I find that people are so overwhelmed that they don't want to face the chaos that they are creating. In turn, this is actually creating an even more chaotic environment. Denial is not pretty. Sometimes you have to face reality and come up with a plan.
I recently finished a couple of books- "When Less Becomes More" and "Grace not Perfection" both by Emily Ley. Both were incredible and I highly recommend, especially to women and entrepreneurs. They touched on simplifying your life, taking inventory of who you allow to speak into your life on a daily basis, the pros and cons of social media as well as striving to better yourself instead of striving for perfection. These were all things I knew, but needed to hear again to put things into perspective. I know that I'm not perfect, but I still try to be. I know that Instagram is a highlight real of other people's lives and that I shouldn't compare my life to it, but I still do. I know that I have to learn from mistakes and not be afraid of failure, but I am, and I avoid risks like the plague. I really should be giving myself a lot more grace. This book helped me to see that perspective and gave great practical tips to implement these values.
So on the topic of getting started......just DO IT! You have to give it a try. Get your home in order and THEN you can get your life in order. Unfollow toxic accounts online and THEN you can start to have a better self image. Take breaks from social media and THEN you can stop comparing and start gaining confidence again. Turn off notifications after 7pm so that you CAN have a work-life balance. STOP trying to achieve perfection and THEN you won't be hard on yourself or dissappointed when you CAN'T achieve it. Take these steps and you WILL see results. You will see change. You will be a better version of yourself. Who doesn't want that?
Stop letting time pass and resolutions fade away....get started!!! Get accountability so that you continue even when the fun wares off. I can't stress this part enough. If you don't have accountability, you will not be motivated all of the time and will back slide into old habits. It takes 21 days to make or break a habit, so accountability is huge especially in the beginning. Let me help you! I have made a business out of being an organized person. I know first hand what works and what doesn't. I can help be that push to begin. I can also be a fresh set of eyes on a space that needs creativity. It's never too late to start, but why wait? Everyone on the planet can benefit from getting their house in order. Everyone can benefit from ridding their home of things that don't spark joy (more on that topic to come). Everyone should love the space they live in and feel peace in their environment. Everyone feels less stressed when they live in a calm, organized and joyful place. You should want to come home! You should love opening your closet door. It should be easy to function day to day in your environment. If it's not, then again, let me help you!! All you need is a shift in priority and perspective. The rest will come with time.
I hope that this reassures you that anyone can achieve peace in their life (no matter how messed up it may seem)! I also hope that you go check out these must-read pieces and that they inspire you as much as they did for me! And I hope that you will take the leap to try one of the items mentioned above to better your life today. There is no time like the present! If you follow my IG page, you see that I hashtag #askmehow on almost every post. I mean it! I want you to use me as a resource. I have so much passion for this topic and live it out in my daily life. I don't expect everyone to have an eye for organization which is why I encourage you to #askmehow ! I won't judge and I am here to help!
More to come!
